The story follows a young New York City woman, Eléonore who makes her way through the world stealing in a variety of ways. She steals whatever she can – purses, grapes, DVDs, a car, a young girl’s dog and kittens. Is it a blatant case of kleptomania? Is she simply bored? Is she psychologically damaged? It’s tough to tell. The roots of her behavior are never explored... The Pleasure of Being Robbed is a charming indie movie, suffused with the spirit of the French New Wave of the early sixties.
