White Square is a depiction of a current (or near future) life, the industrialization of people and the disappearance of the individual. In a dystopian reality where people are disposable, teenager Philippe grows as an orphan after his mother leapt from a building to a certain death. He gradually molds into the perfect citizen – productive and without any questions. As long as you are useful to the society your life is valuable, but as soon as your strength diminishes, so does your value. Philippe starts wondering if this is the only way to live.
Though done before, White Square is beautifully staged and sharp lighting creates contrasts between light and shadows.
