BERLINALE PANORAMA PREMIERES LAND OF STORMS

Ádám Császi’s first full-length feature film, LAND OF STORMS, has been selected for the Panorama sidebar at the Berlin International Film Festival between 6-16 February. The Hungarian-German coproduction was developed and produced with professional and financial support of the Hungarian National Film Fund.

LAND OF STORMS (Hu/De) (Viharsarok)
Land of Storms is a story of forbidden love in an ancient, prejudiced land. A lyrical and unsparingly realistic drama of a love triangle: the story of young men trying to find their true selves.

The search for our true selves takes us to unknown places – far away from everything we believed in. – Szabolcs plays in a German football team, as does Bernard. They are roommates, best friends, inseparable. A lost match and an ugly argument make Szabolcs reconsider his life abroad and he ventures back to Hungary in the hope that life back home will be a little more straightforward. But he is not alone for long because he soon meets Áron and a mutual attraction between the two boys develops...

Land of Storms stars emerging Hungarian actors András Sütő, Ádám Varga and German rising talent Sebastian Urzendowsky. Ádám Császi's debut feature was produced by Proton Cinema/Viktória Petrányi, Eszter Gyárfás (Hu) and Unafilm (De) in co-production with Hungarian Café Film and I'm Film. Land of Storms was developed with professional and financial support of the Hungarian National Film Fund. Császi directed several acclaimed shorts including 7 Days (Special Prize, 2004 Hungarian Film Week) and Weak Days (Best Short, 2008 Hungarian Film Week).

Berlin-based sales outfit M-Appeal handles sals and festivals, last year's Cannes film market TLA Releasing picked up Land of Storms and took it for North America, UK, France and Poland.
